AP Unveils ‘Yogandhra’: High Mobilization for Mass Wellness Drive

Chief Minister Naidu and Baba Ramdev launched 'Yogandhra,' a massive wellness campaign in Andhra Pradesh aiming to integrate yoga into daily life for holistic health.

Andhra Pradesh just gave a powerful statement to the world with its new mass wellness campaign, ‘Yogandhra.’ On the eve of the 12th International Day of Yoga (June 21, 2026), the state is buzzing. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, flanked by globally known Yoga icon Baba Ramdev, kicked off this unprecedented drive at the stunning Undavalli Caves in Guntur. These ancient, fourth-century rock-cut marvels weren’t just a backdrop—they set the tone for blending tradition and progress, anchoring the whole event in history while pushing for a modern, healthier future.

High-Octane Demonstrations at Ancient Grounds

What unfolded at Undavalli was far from just a ceremonial launch. Baba Ramdev, alongside his trusted aide Acharya Balkrishna, electrified the crowd—not with speeches, but with intense, high-level yoga demonstrations. He moved through physically demanding postures like Chakrasanam and Mayurasanam, leading energetic power yoga routines that pulled the audience right into the action. His trademark call, "Karo Yog, Raho Nirog," rang out, encouraging everyone to view yoga as a living, daily commitment. Ramdev didn’t hold back on praise for Chief Minister Naidu either, calling him a leader with the strength and vision of the Himalayas.

Moving the State: The Scale of 'Yogandhra'

This event at Undavalli Caves serves as a powerful prelude to a multi-stage initiative. From here, the movement shifts into high gear at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, where the space has been carefully organized into 24 separate blocks to host thousands of yoga practitioners. But Andhra Pradesh’s ambitions with Yogandhra stretch deep into the state’s social fabric. This isn’t about a one-off celebration. Under the Swarna Andhra Vision-2047, the government is determined to embed yoga into daily life across the state, building healthy routines that last far longer than just a single event.

Key Targets of the Wellness Blueprint

The scale is hard to overstate: over one crore people—ten million—will take part in synchronized yoga sessions spread out over 1.33 lakh centers. Schools, universities, village offices—everywhere you turn, the aim is to make yoga an accessible, everyday practice. There’s real muscle behind this plan, too. The state already has a network of 2.6 lakh trained yoga instructors in place and wants to get 10 lakh regular practitioners certified, using smartphone-based training apps and WhatsApp communities to keep them connected and motivated.

Chief Minister Naidu took things one step further by instructing officials to weave therapeutic yoga directly into Andhra Pradesh’s flagship Sanjeevani health program. This is a deliberate move to tackle chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension—not with medication alone, but by promoting prevention and lifestyle change.

Naidu put it simply and directly: “Yoga is an invaluable way of life—India’s gift to the world. Through Yogandhra, we’re moving from waiting for a cure to focusing on prevention, making fitness, mental calm, and holistic health a reality for every family in Andhra Pradesh.”

To back all this up, the government has set aside ₹10 crores for event infrastructure and launched a two-week promotional blast across every district. By uniting renowned spiritual leaders with clear, practical government support, Andhra Pradesh is making a real bet: that Yogandhra can spark a lasting, organized grassroots movement for everyday health and well-being, reaching deep and wide into the population.
