PM’s Varanasi visit: Empowering Farmers and Strengthening Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Varanasi today marks a significant moment as he returns to his parliamentary constituency after securing a resounding victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections. His presence carries both symbolic weight and practical implications for the region.

PM-KISAN Scheme: A Boost for Farmers

The highlight of this visit is the release of the 17th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This initiative aims to directly benefit over 9.26 crore farmers across the country, with a total disbursement exceeding Rs 20,000 crore. The financial support provided through PM-KISAN is crucial for small and marginal farmers, helping them meet their agricultural needs and improve their livelihoods.

Empowering Krishi Sakhis and Agricultural Education

In addition to the financial assistance, PM Modi will also distribute certificates to more than 30,000 self-help groups (SHGs) trained as Krishi Sakhis. These dedicated individuals serve as para extension workers, bridging the gap between farmers and agricultural knowledge. Their role in disseminating information about good farming practices, emerging technologies, and climate-resilient agriculture is invaluable.

Interaction with Farmers and Union Ministers

Over 2.5 crore farmers are expected to participate in the event. They will gather at 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and 5 lakh Common Service Centres nationwide. At 50 selected Krishi Vikas Kendras (KVKs), union ministers will engage directly with farmers, addressing their concerns and discussing ways to enhance agricultural productivity.

Spiritual Connection: Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Ganga Aarti

PM Modi’s visit also includes spiritual moments. He will offer prayers at the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple, a sacred site for millions of devotees. Later, he will witness the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, connecting with the spiritual heritage of Varanasi.

A Resounding Victory in Lok Sabha Elections

In the recent Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Modi secured an impressive win in the Varanasi constituency. His victory by a margin of 1,52,513 votes reaffirms the trust placed in his leadership by the people of this historic city.

As PM Modi spends the night in Varanasi before departing for Bihar, his visit underscores the government’s commitment to rural welfare, agricultural progress, and the well-being of India’s farmers. It’s a day that combines practical policy implementation with spiritual reverence—a blend that resonates deeply with the ethos of Varanasi.
