Meet & Greet: Telugu CMs Presented Their Wish Lists to PM Modi

Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Chief Ministers Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Anumula Revanth Reddy separately met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today (July 4) to discuss crucial development proposals for their respective states.

Chandrababu Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is an important ally in the BJP-led NDA government, requested increased assistance for Andhra Pradesh, especially since granting special category status to the state seems uncertain.

During his two-day visit to the national capital, Naidu also held discussions with Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal on state-specific issues. He is scheduled to meet other key ministers like Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Health Minister J P Nadda.

The visit is significant as Andhra Pradesh seeks substantial support from the Centre for its development, following its division in 2014.

Meanwhile, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Batti Vikramarka also accompanied with Revanth Reddy during the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This was the first meeting between Modi and Revanth Reddy after the Modi was sworn in as the prime minister for a third straight term last month.

Even though he belongs to a Congress, Revanth Reddy has been maintaining cordial relationship with the Centre from the beginning of his coming to the power in Telangana after December 2023 elections.

The sources said the Telangana chief minister discussed key pending projects of the southern state with Modi.

Earlier in the day, Reddy met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the two leaders deliberated on matters related to Telangana. While details of the discussions were not officially disclosed, it is understood that issues related to development projects and central assistance to the state were on the agenda.
