BJP Launches Preparations for Electoral Roll Revision in Karnataka

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka. To raise awareness about the initiative, the party organized a state-level workshop in Bengaluru on Monday, which saw participation from over 200 leaders, including legislators, district presidents, and key office-bearers.

BJP National Disciplinary Committee chairperson Om Pathak said the SIR, undertaken by the Election Commission of India (ECI) nationwide, aims to ensure accuracy in the voter lists. He noted that the process had already been completed in Bihar and would soon begin in West Bengal, Assam, and Karnataka. Pathak emphasized that the BJP is gearing up to fully support and monitor the exercise.

Criticizing the Congress and other I.N.D.I.A bloc members, Pathak alleged that they were spreading misinformation about the SIR despite its importance in maintaining transparent electoral rolls. He stressed that a clean and verified voter list is vital for safeguarding the integrity of democracy, warning that the participation of ineligible or illegal voters threatens national unity.

Pathak also pointed out that the SIR was routinely conducted across India until 2004 but was discontinued after the Congress-led government came to power. He urged that every legitimate voter be included and that errors or duplications in the electoral rolls be corrected promptly.

The BJP aims to ensure that no eligible citizen is excluded during the revision process, reaffirming its commitment to transparent and credible elections.
