Sharad Pawar hints at quitting politics; Is it an emotional card?

Sharad Pawar's remarks came while he was campaigning in Baramati where Yugendra Pawar Iis set to take on Ajit Pawar.

Sharad Pawar, on 5th Nov, hinted at retirement as he said he may not contest any more elections after his Rajya Sabha term ends. His current term in the Upper House ends in one and a half years.

Sharad Pawar was speaking at his family stronghold of Baramati in western Maharashtra, which will see a Pawar vs Pawar contest in the 20th November Assembly election.

"I am not in power... and my tenure in the Rajya Sabha has one-and-a-half years left. (After that) I will not contest any election in the future. (I) will have to stop somewhere..."

The comments are also significant in view of the upcoming Assembly elections, the first since the split in his party along with Maha Vikas Aghadi partner Shiv Sena. With the stakes high, Pawar’s remarks and his next move are being watched very closely.
