Rahul ordered Assam MLAs to disrupt assembly: Himanta

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that Rahul Gandhi sent a strong order to his MLAs during his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra'. According to Sarma, Gandhi told the Congress MLAs, "Isbar Assembly mein faar do (disrupt the Assembly this time). This disclosure has caused a stir in political circles.

Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media that when Rahul Gandhi visited Assam, he attended a meeting with opposition party leaders, during which a lawmaker informed Rahul Gandhi that none of the Congress MLAs spoke against the state administration.

On the other side, shocking the Assam Pradesh Congress ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, two prominent MLAs abandoned the party and decided to back the "development agenda" of chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma's BJP government in Assam.

 Kamalakhya dey Purkayastha, an MLA from Karimganj North seat and the working president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), and Basanta Das, an MLA from Mangaldai constituency, have pledged their support for the BJP government.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that all Congress MLAs have contacted them, and that many more will join the BJP government in the near future.
