The performance will feature a large ensemble of 2,500 artistes from across the country, convening at Kartavya Path to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.

The Ministry of Culture has organized this special segment to celebrate the spirit of "Viksit Bharat" and the legacy of Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic composition.

A Global Stage for a National Treasure

Keeravani, who gained international acclaim with his Oscar-winning song "Naatu Naatu," expressed his gratitude on social media, stating: "On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the iconic song Vande Mataram, I feel deeply honoured and privileged to have composed the music for the 26th January Republic Day Parade. This grand presentation will be performed by 2,500 artists from across India."

The performance is anticipated to be a breath-taking fusion of diverse Indian traditions:

Dance Forms: The 2,500 performers will include exponents of Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipudi, and Manipuri.

Theme: The presentation will revolve around the themes of 'Swatantra Ka Mantra: Vande Mataram' and 'Samriddhi Ka Mantra: Viksit Bharat.'

Visual Tribute: Special floral decorations and backdrops at Kartavya Path will depict the opening stanzas of the song to honor Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

High-Profile Attendance

The 2026 celebrations will be attended by European Council President Antonio Luis Santos da Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who will serve as Chief Guests. Additionally, over 10,000 special guests—including ISRO scientists, para-athletes, and farmers—will be present in the audience.
