As for the airport, it becomes the official hub for commercial flights starting August 17, 2026, when services shift from the old Visakhapatnam Civil Enclave (INS Dega) to Bhogapuram, including transfer of the international code VTZ.

Preparations for Modi’s visit are operating at full tilt. Chandrababu and state officials have rolled out comprehensive plans:
Security is tight—over 7,000 personnel and 25 IPS officers, all overseen by the state DGP. The venue expects an enormous turnout, with parking mapped out for up to 3 lakh people and 10,000 vehicles, including 5,000 buses.
To keep things safe and orderly, a strict No-Fly Zone covers a 5-kilometer radius around the airport and public meeting site. This ban runs from July 30 at 8 PM to August 1 at 8 PM—no drones or civilian aerial devices allowed.
