First 5 Decisions after Chandrababu Naidu took over as Andhra CM

Telegu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu took charge as the new CM of Andhra Pradesh after reducing YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress (YSRCP) to mere 11 assembly seats. The TDP contested the Assembly polls in alliance with Pawan Kalyan led JanaSena and the BJP. In the manifesto, Naidu promised of making Amravati the sole capital of the AP.

Apart from this, he also revealed his plans of revoking the Land Titling Act, publish a job calendar on annual basis, order a skill census and increase the pension amount as well.

Let's look at the first 5 key decisions taken by Naidu as Andhra Pradesh CM

1. Amravati as AP's capital

When TDP came to power in 2014, Naidu first announced Amravati as the the capital. However, after its defeat in 2019, the Naidu's ambitious project was scrapped by the YSRCP government and it proposed a three capital formula instead.

Jagan Reddy's government halted the project due to which thousands of people lost their livelihoods.

2. Land Titling Act

Naidu has decided to revoke the Land Titling Act. The Land Titling Act was passed by the YSRCP government in 2022 for digitization of land records through new surveys.

During the campaigning, Chandrababu had vowed to take back the act which he had termed as 'Land Grabbing Act'.

3. Increase of pension amount

Welfare pensions or Navaratnalu was Jagan's star scheme. However, after the ECI directed him not to assign volunteers for any political work which also included delivery of pensions. The controversy damaged his party prospects and TDP gained from it.

Amidst this controversy, Naidu announced that if voted to power, his government will hike the monthly pension from existing Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000.

4. Annual District Selection Committee jobs calendar

The lack of jobs and investments in Andhra Pradesh was the main poll plank of the TDP. The party criticized the erstwhile Jagan government for not fulfilling their promise of publishing an Annual District Selection Committee jobs calendar. He has now planned to publishing a jobs calendar.

5. Skill Census

During the election campaign, Naidu twisted opposition's demand of caste census by replacing it with a skill census. He had said that by gauging the skill level of people, we will be able to compare it to the global skill requirement and address the shortcomings.
