Chief Priest who led Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha Passes Away

Acharya Laxmikant Mathuranath Dixit, a revered Vedic scholar hailing from Varanasi, breathed his last at the age of 86. His passing marks the end of an era for the Hindu community, as he played a pivotal role in the consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

A Life Devoted to Ritualism and Leadership

Acharya Dixit was not just a priest; he embodied deep-rooted devotion and scholarly wisdom. His expertise in Vedic ‘karmkand’ (ritualism) made him a respected figure among scholars. When the time came to solemnize the Ramlalla Pran Pratishtha ceremony, he led a team of 121 scholars from various branches of the Vedas. Their collective efforts ensured that Lord Ram’s idol was consecrated at the Ayodhya temple on January 22, an event graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

A Legacy Rooted in Tradition

Dixit hailed from Varanasi, a city steeped in spiritual heritage. His lineage traced back to the illustrious Kashi scholar, Gaga Bhatt, who played a pivotal role in the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj around 350 years ago in 1674. This connection to historical significance underscored Dixit’s role as a custodian of tradition.

Condolences from Prominent Leaders

The news of Acharya Dixit’s demise reverberated across the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow, acknowledging Dixit’s contribution to the scholarly tradition of Kashi. In a heartfelt post, PM Modi lamented the irreparable loss to society, recalling their shared moments during the inauguration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the Ram temple.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed these sentiments. He described Dixit as an eminent scholar and the chief priest of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Pran Pratishtha. Adityanath emphasized Dixit’s unwavering commitment to the Sanskrit language and Indian culture. His prayer to Lord Shri Ram sought solace for the departed soul and strength for Dixit’s disciples and followers.

A Final Journey

As the sun rises over Ayodhya, Acharya Laxmikant Dixit’s last rites will be conducted at the sacred Manikarnika Ghat. The spiritual and literary world mourns the loss of a luminary, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. May his soul find eternal peace at Lord Ram’s lotus feet.
