Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, met with Ratan Tata, the chairman of Tata Trust and, on Wednesday. Sarma thanked Tata for the forthcoming Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor facility, which is located in Jagiroad, in the Morigaoan district of Assam.

During the discussion with Tata, decisions were taken regarding the opening of a skill development center in the same area. This declaration was made on social media by Chief Minister Sarma.Sarma added that by providing training in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and electronics, the Skill Development Center will empower young people from the Northeast and assist them in finding employment in the Jagiroad division. 

“My visit to Mumbai yesterday was extremely special. Assam will always be grateful to Shri Ratan Tata Ji for establishing the state in the world’s semiconductor circuit and creating new job opportunities for our people by expanding the group’s presence," Sarma stated in his X handle.

 The project, which will provide "made in India" chips that are designed and produced in Assam, was essentially launched on March 14 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The facility is anticipated to begin partial operation in 2025 and produce 48 million chips daily. Without a doubt, technology is what drives the 21st century, with electronic chips playing a key role.
