Addressing a press conference in Kaziranga on October 25, Anup Chetia, the General Secretary of the United Liberation Front of Assam (pro-talk faction) or ULFA ( pro-talk faction), informed that an agreement between the ULFA and the Government of India would be signed soon.

"We are hopeful that the tripartite meeting will be held soon. The meeting is likely to be held next month, if not this month. The organisation will be dissolved once the agreement is signed after the meeting”, said Chetia.

Before the mentioned press conference, the organisation also held an organisational meeting on the same day. Chetia told the press that a meeting of the general council of the organisation was held in the presence of President Arabinda Rajkhowa.

Speaking at the press conference, General Secretary Anup Chetia said, "Perhaps this is the last meeting of the Samyukta Mukti Bahini Assam, or ULFA. If an agreement is signed at the tripartite meeting of the Government of India, the Government of Assam, and the ULFA, then the organisation will be formally dissolved”.

Remarkably, the group's pro-talk section abandoned violence in favour of dialogue in 2010, and as a result, all of the imprisoned leaders including vice chairman Pradip Gogoi and chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa were released by the state government.
