Suvendu Adhikari Demands NRC, Slams TMC Over Infiltration

LOP demands NRC in West Bengal, accusing TMC of aiding illegal immigration for political gains. He vows NRC implementation if BJP wins in 2026.

As West Bengal faces a rising controversy over “ghost voters” infiltrating electoral rolls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again intensified its demand for the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state. The call, led by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, exposes the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government’s failure in curbing illegal immigration from Bangladesh.

Addressing the media, Adhikari lambasted the TMC, stating that its outright rejection of NRC was proof of its unwillingness to act against the large-scale infiltration plaguing Bengal. “Illegal migration from Bangladesh is changing the state’s demography at an alarming rate. Terrorist organizations like Ansarullah Bangla are expanding their operations in multiple districts, while the state police turn a blind eye,” Adhikari asserted.

The BJP has accused the TMC of facilitating the inclusion of illegal migrants in the voters’ list to serve its vote bank politics. Citing the unnatural rise in voter numbers in Champahati under Baruipur constituency, the BJP alleges that TMC leaders are actively assisting Bangladeshis in acquiring Indian citizenship documents, thereby compromising national security.

Slamming the TMC, Adhikari further warned that if the infiltration continued unchecked, West Bengal would soon face irreversible demographic consequences. He reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to implementing NRC once the party secures power in the 2026 Assembly elections. “The TMC government is aiding illegal migration for its own political gains. We will ensure that NRC is enforced to protect the identity and security of West Bengal,” he added.

While Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has vowed to oppose the NRC, her government has faced serious allegations of sheltering extremists. Recently, she challenged the BJP to provide evidence linking her to fundamentalist organizations, promising to resign if proven guilty. However, the BJP has consistently highlighted cases of TMC’s appeasement politics, proving that the party prioritizes its vote bank over the interests of the state.

The BJP’s call for NRC is gaining traction among citizens concerned about infiltration and security threats. With elections approaching, the debate over NRC will be a defining issue, putting Mamata Banerjee’s government in a difficult position as its failures come under increasing scrutiny.
