Rahul Mangkootathil Resigns as Kerala Youth Congress Chief

Kerala Youth Congress president Rahul Mangkootathil has stepped down from his post following a series of sexual misconduct complaints lodged against him.

Kerala Youth Congress president Rahul Mangkootathil has stepped down from his post following a series of sexual misconduct complaints lodged against him. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rahul rejected claims that the Congress leadership had initiated disciplinary measures, but confirmed that he was voluntarily resigning.

Party insiders revealed that Rahul has already submitted his resignation to the Congress high command and also informed KPCC president Sunny Joseph of his decision over a phone call. His exit comes at a time when reports suggested that the leadership was considering his removal, with allegations spreading rapidly on social media.

According to sources, several women leaders had filed complaints against Rahul with AICC general secretary Deepa Das Munshi, who oversees party affairs in Kerala. At least six such grievances are believed to have reached her.

With the leadership moving quickly to contain the crisis, there are strong indications that former state Youth Congress leader K. M. Abhijith will be asked to take temporary charge of the organization. The development marks a significant shake-up within the Kerala unit of the Youth Congress, coming at a time when the party is preparing for upcoming organizational activities.
