PM ’s Visit to J&K: Unveiling Development and Celebrating Yoga Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on a significant two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, marking his first trip to the region after taking oath for a third consecutive term. During this visit, PM Modi will inaugurate several crucial development projects and lead the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Srinagar.

Development Projects:

  1. Infrastructure Boost: PM Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 84 major developmental projects valued at over Rs. 1,500 crore. These projects span various sectors, including road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and higher education facilities.

  2. Key Initiatives: The projects include the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section, development of industrial estates, and construction of six Government Degree Colleges. These initiatives aim to enhance the region’s infrastructure and educational facilities.

  3. Agricultural Competitiveness: PM Modi will also launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture & Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project, worth Rs. 1,800 crore. This project will benefit 300,000 households across 20 districts in Jammu and Kashmir, supporting 15 lakh beneficiaries.

  4. Appointment Letters: As part of his commitment to youth empowerment, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment letters to over 2,000 people appointed in government service.

Empowering Youth:

  • The event titled “Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K” is a significant moment for the region. It showcases progress and provides inspiration to young achievers.

  • PM Modi will inspect stalls and interact with young achievers, emphasizing the importance of youth-led development.

International Day of Yoga:

  • On June 21, 2024, the Prime Minister will lead the International Yoga Day Celebrations at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

  • This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights the dual role of yoga in fostering individual well-being and societal health.

  • The celebration aims to unite thousands in the practice of yoga, promoting wellness on a global scale.

Legacy of Yoga Day:

  • Since 2015, PM Modi has led International Day of Yoga celebrations at iconic locations worldwide, including the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

  • Yoga’s profound impact on young minds and bodies remains a central focus, encouraging grassroots participation and its spread in rural areas.
