According to the schedule, Mandi contestant Kangana Ranaut will register her nomination papers on May 14, while Hamirpur candidate Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Shimla candidate Suresh Kashyap will file their papers on May 13 and Kangra candidate Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj on May 10.

The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly by-elections, party candidate Ravi Thakur from Lahaul and Spiti will file his nomination on May 9, L D Lakhanpal from Badsar assembly on May 10, Rajinder Rana from Sujanpur and Devinder Singh Bhutto from Kutlehar assembly seat on May 10, and Sudhir Sharma from Dharamshala on May 14.

In Mandi, Congress has fielded PWD minister Vikramaditya Singh against Kangana Ranaut, senior Congress leader and former union minister Anand Sharma against Dr Rajiv Bharwaj, former MLA from Una Satpal Singh Raizada against Anurag Thakur, and sitting MLA from Kasauli Vinod Sultanpuria against Suresh Kashyap in Shimla. Dr Rajiv Bindal, the state BJP chief who announced the schedule, claimed that the BJP would win all four seats and six assembly by-elections.
