The meeting of the anti-BJP I.N.D.I.A. alliance has been cancelled amid disappointment by the opposition in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.

The next meeting of the Indian Alliance was scheduled to be held at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, sources said.

According to sources, the meeting of the I.N.D.I.A. Alliance will be reconvened by the Congress in December. The meeting will be convened again in the third week of this month.

According to Congress sources, the high command has decided to postpone the December 6 meeting as the top leaders of several important parties could not attend it.

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee said she was not informed about the meeting. She is scheduled to visit North Bengal on December 6 for family reasons. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said he would not be able to attend the meeting due to illness. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said he would not be able to attend the meeting as he was busy. He will send a representative.

On the other hand, there were rumours that Akhilesh Yadav and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin would not be able to attend the meeting. However, Stalin had said that he would not be able to visit Delhi due to monitoring the situation in Cyclone Michaung in Tamil Nadu.

Questions have been raised among the alliance partners about the Congress' defeat in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. According to sources, differences between the Congress and its allies came out in the open over the strategy of seat sharing and how to take on the BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections.

In the recent assembly elections in five states, there was an atmosphere of 'dissatisfaction' with the Congress and India's allies over seat sharing in four states. The Congress did not want to give space to small regional parties opposed to the BJP, the party that broke away from the Congress, and even the allies of the anti-BJP alliance 'India'. Many political experts believe that this attitude of the Congress is maintaining the 'distance' with the allies. In such a situation, time will tell what the future of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance will be.
