NEET Results 2024: Exam to be reconducted for over 1563 candidates

The National Testing Agency which is the principal body of conducting the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) has withdrawn its decision of granting grace marks to 1563 candidates, the central government informed the Supreme Court today.

The centre told the top court that aspirants who were given grace marks to compensate for the loss of time due to delay in starting the examinations at certain centers, will be given an option to reappear. The NTA has also informed the central government that the re-examination will likely held on June 23 and the results will be declared on June 30.

The marks obtained by the aspirants on May 5 will be discarded and no compensatory marks will be given to them for the re-examination.

The NEET -UG 2024 was conducted by the NTA across 4750 centers and around 24 lakhs aspirants sat for the examination. The result was to be declared on June 14, however, it was declared on June 4, apparently because the evaluation process got completed earlier.

Several allegations related to paper leak and grant of grace marks to over 1500 aspirants led to protests and filing of cases in 7 High Courts including the Supreme Court.

In fact, as many as 67 students had scored a perfect 720, which has never happened before in NTA's history.
