Heavy rain alert in Goa, Karnataka, and ten other states

Today, the IMD issued a red alert for Goa and an orange alert for Meghalaya, Nagaland, and other areas.

The India Meteorological Department of India (IMD) issued a red rain advisory for Goa today, anticipating heavy rain throughout the day. Given the state's severe rain threat, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has declared a holiday for all schools from pre-primary to Class 12. Today, July 8, an orange alert has been issued for severe rain in Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. The IMD urged individuals to arrange their day based on the temperature and anticipated weather patterns.

 According to the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning and medium to torrential rainfall are possible on July 8 and 9, in Uttarakhand's plains and hills. Heavy rains are also expected in the Tehri, Pauri, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, and Champawat districts on July 10, according to ANI's weather forecast. IMD predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall across Northwest and Central India, along with thunderstorms and lightning. Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir are among the states expected to experience similar weather until July 12. On July 8, the weather agency predicted heavy rain in Bihar and Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh on July 11, and Assam and Meghalaya on July 10 and 11. Heavy rains are also forecast in Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, and Mizoram through July 11.

Heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra from July 9 to July 11, as well as Gujarat Region on July 9, Kerala, and Mahe.
