The Bengaluru municipal police have filed a case against the management of One8 Commune, a restaurant owned by Indian player Virat Kohli, for operating after hours. The police reported that the bar on MG Road in central Bengaluru served clients until 1.30 a.m., exceeding the legal time limit of 1 p.m. The police also arrested numerous other businesses for operating past their legal closing hour, breaking city regulations.

According to media accounts, a police sub-inspector (PSI) on patrol, based on a tip, stopped by the restaurant at 1:20 a.m. on July 6 and discovered it open. The Cubbon Park police station's PSI submitted a non-recognisable report (NCR). Police eventually changed the NCR into a FIR with authorization from the Court.

Last year, a controversy developed around the Virat Kohli-backed restaurant when a guy from Tamil Nadu published a video on X detailing how he was denied admittance to the Mumbai branch of One8 Commune for wearing a "veshti." The man described himself as "disappointed" and "hurt" by the incident. Last year, the Delhi High Court forbade the Virat Kohli-owned restaurant chain from playing music in which Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) controlled the copyright. Virat Kohli's restaurant, One8 Commune, has locations in key cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata. 

The pub's Bengaluru site, on the sixth floor of Ratnam's Complex on Kasturba Road near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, opened in December. Dining at One8 Commune offers views of Cubbon Park and Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli has a special connection to Bengaluru, having played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore since the IPL's inception.
