Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise scandal will be heard by a Delhi court on June 19, according to PTI. The case was adjourned by Additional Sessions Judge Mukesh Kumar after the Excise Department sought more time to file a reply.

In addition to the bail plea, the court has scheduled a hearing for Saturday to consider Kejriwal’s application to allow his spouse to join the medical board’s procedures via video conference. The medical board was formed to determine Kejriwal’s health condition and further treatment. The judge has directed the jail authorities to file a reply in this matter.

“An application has been moved by the accused seeking directions to allow his wife to join the medical board. Before passing any order, I deem it appropriate to call for a reply from the jail superintendent concerned. The application will be kept for tomorrow,” the judge said, as reported by PTI.

During the proceedings, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) requested the court to adjourn the matter until June 25. However, the judge stated that he would consider the convenience of the accused for the next date of hearing, not the ED’s.

“The accused is in judicial custody (JC), and not in your (ED’s) custody. If he wants some convenience, you do not have any role in that. You have no role to play. He is in JC. I will consider his convenience, not yours,” the judge said, according to PTI.

The judge also directed the Tihar jail authorities to take care of Kejriwal’s medical needs while in judicial custody. It’s worth noting that Kejriwal’s application seeking interim bail on medical grounds was dismissed on June 5 by a Delhi court. Furthermore, Kejriwal’s judicial custody was extended by the judge until June 19.
