Various areas of Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency have been inundated, along with the whole of Assam. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited various areas of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts on Thursday in this adverse environment. Minister Sonowal first visited various places in the Khowang assembly constituency. He also reached three flood relief camps, spoke to the flood-affected people, and took stock of the damage.

Meanwhile, he also reached Guijan Ghat in Tinsukia district and inspected the flood situation. Minister Sonowal traveled by boat from Guijan Ghat to his native village, Mulukgaon, to take stock of the flood situation. Union Minister Sonowal directed the officials to make all necessary measures, including the timely distribution of relief materials, healthcare facilities, and special care for the elderly and children, available immediately.

The central and state governments have jointly taken the necessary steps to deal with the flood situation in Assam with the utmost seriousness. He said the government would also work expeditiously to provide other facilities, including compensation, after receiving the flood relief and directed the concerned officials to expedite the repair of the broken embankment. On the other hand, Minister Sonowal also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking stock of the flood situation in Assam very often.

Additionally, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma traveled to the flood-stricken Majuli, where he assessed the situation while visiting the embankment of Bongaon, Karhal, and the damaged portion of the Jugunidhari embankment in the most severely impacted Auniati area of Majuli.

Speaking with the victims of the flood, the Chief Minister stated that Majuli must be protected from the horrors of flooding by fortifying the embankments, which were constructed roughly 20 years ago.

The Chief Minister instructed the Chief Engineer and Water Resources Minister, Piyush Hazarika, to arrange for the earliest possible arrival of an IIT expert team in Majuli so that they could develop a plan. Additionally, he stated that Majuli's residents would receive some relief from the upcoming floods in the next few days with the government's efforts.
