Sabotage Angle: French Rail Network ‘Attacked' Ahead of Olympics

The French high-speed rail system has been hit by "malicious acts," including arson attacks, which have disrupted the transportation system, hours before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

Key services of the French railway network were targeted by incendiaries on the opening day of the Olympic Games. It is called coordinated sabotage by France. Rail freight seems to remain unscathed because the primary victim is high-speed passenger traffic. The attack highlights the vulnerability of rail infrastructure in Europe.

The arson attacks occurred on the night ahead of the official opening of the Olympic Games. A representative of Delta Rail, a French multimodal operator, says that “rail freight in general does not seem to be affected.”

High-speed passenger traffic needs to be detoured along old lines after the attacks. Travel towards the west, north, and northeast has become difficult, especially when traveling towards the west, north, and northeast. It prevented an attack in the southeast.

The Olympic Games this year are the largest security operation in French history. A day before the opening of the Olympics, a Russian spy boasted about his attack plans in a café in France.
