The nominations for the 96th Academy Awards have been announced. From India, documentary feature - 'To Kill a Tiger', has been nominated in the Best Documentary Feature category at the 96th Oscars. The film narrates the struggle of a father (Ranjit) to seek justice for his 13-year-old daughter who was sexually assaulted.
'To Kill a Tiger' has been helmed by Delhi-born Nisha Pahuja, who is presently based in Toronto. The film had earlier won the Amplify Voices Award for Best Canadian Feature Film at Toronto International Film Festival 2022.
For 2024 Academy Awards, more than 120 films and documentaries have been nominated in the categories of Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Foreign Film and Best Director. ‘Open Hammer’, ‘The Poor Things’, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and ‘Barbie’ are the most nominated films.
The Oscars are the most prestigious awards in the film industry. All the celebrities are eagerly waiting for this award. From India, the song 'Naatu Naatu' from the film 'RRR' won the award in the Best Original Song category in the last year.
The ‘Elephant Whispers’ also won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film.
The 96th Academy Awards will be held in 2024 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony will be held on March 10 (March 11 IST).
