Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has announced the release date for her much-anticipated film "Emergency." Taking to Instagram, Kangana unveiled a new poster featuring herself as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, looking away from the camera. The film is set to release in cinemas worldwide on September 6, 2024, marking "The Beginning of the 50th Year of Independent India’s Darkest Chapter."

Initially scheduled for November 24, 2023, "Emergency" faced multiple delays, including a postponement during the Lok Sabha Elections. Kangana plays a multifaceted role in the project, serving as the lead actor, writer, director, and producer under her Manikarnika Films Production banner. The political drama is backed by Zee Studios and co-produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana herself.

"Emergency" is described as a crucial retelling of a pivotal moment in India’s political history, highlighting the period known as the Emergency, a controversial and significant chapter in Indian democracy. The film also features an ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. The screenplay and dialogues are penned by Ritesh Shah, with music by Sanchit Balhara.
