Tushar Deshpande and Tanush Kotian made history in cricket by becoming the first batters in 75 years to score centuries while batting at the number 10 and 11 positions. Their remarkable achievement helped Mumbai qualify for the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy based on the first innings lead against Baroda.

Kotian scored an unbeaten 120 runs from 129 balls, hitting ten fours and four sixes. On the other hand, Deshpande scored 123 runs from 129 balls, smashing ten fours and eight sixes. Together, they formed an impressive partnership of 232 runs for the 10th wicket. Speaking to news agency PTI, Kotian mentioned that they aimed to bat until the drinks break of the first session and capitalize on every opportunity to score runs.

The last time batters at the number 10 and 11 positions scored centuries in cricket was 78 years ago. CT Sarwate (124*) and SN Banerjee (121) achieved this feat while playing for the touring Indians against Surrey at The Oval. They shared a partnership of 249 runs for the 10th wicket.

Regarding the Ranji Trophy record for the 10th wicket, Kotian and Deshpande's partnership fell just one run short of equaling the highest partnership record. This record is held by Ajay Sharma and Maninder Singh.
