The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 will be free to watch on the Disney+ Hotstar mobile app in India. Disney+ Hotstar announced on Wednesday that smartphone users in India will be able to watch this year's ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup for free on the OTT platform, a format that was employed during the ODI World Cup and Asia Cup last year, which garnered record crowds.
The much-anticipated ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 will take place in the United States and the Caribbean beginning June 2. Twenty teams will compete in matches held in three US cities and six Caribbean locations.The T20 World Cup will begin days after the conclusion of the high-octane Indian Premier League, which will definitely keep cricket fans interested in the massive global tournament, with millions watching the Men in Blue, or the Indian cricket team captained by Rohit Sharma, strive for glory. On June 9, India will play archrivals Pakistan in a contest that cricket fans all over the world will be watching.
Sajith Sivanandan, Head of Disney+ Hotstar India, commented, "By making the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 free on mobile, we hope to make the game of cricket more accessible, reach a bigger audience across the country, and ensure that no athletic activity is missed. Cricket is the most effective catalyst for bringing people together. Last year's Asia Cup and ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which we offered for free on mobile, enabled us to target newer audience groups, resulting in a huge increase in viewing. Concurrency records were broken five times during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, which was televised free on mobile via the Disney+ Hotstar app, with the highest peak concurrency of 5.9 crore set during the finals between Team India and Team Australia.
Disney+ Hotstar, in conjunction with the ICC, introduced MaxView for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, allowing customers to stream matches while on the go in vertical mode. With the 2017 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the platform will once again offer a slew of innovations to improve the cricket-watching experience. The inaugural match will be played between the United States and Canada on June 2, 2024, at 6:00 AM IST. The West Indies and the United States will host the ninth edition of the tournament, which will feature 20 nations fighting across 55 games for the title of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 winners.
