Lionel Messi, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers ever, has reportedly made a decision about his future at Inter Miami. According to reports from *El Nacional*, Messi will leave the Major League Soccer (MLS) club when his contract expires in December 2025, marking the end of his tenure with the Florida-based team. This suggests that Messi will play only one full season with Inter Miami.

Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023, significantly boosting the club's fortunes. Under his leadership, the struggling team secured their first-ever trophy, instantly raising their profile. However, once his contract ends, Messi is expected to return to his boyhood club, Newell’s Old Boys, in Argentina.

Messi spent five years at Newell's Old Boys during his youth career, from 1995 to 2000. Over the years, he has expressed his desire to return to the club where his football journey began. He later reiterated his dream in a conversation with *TyC Sports*, though he expressed some uncertainty due to the current state of Argentina.

After recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the 2023 Copa América final, Messi recently returned to action for Inter Miami. In his comeback match against Philadelphia Union, he scored twice, bringing his total MLS tally to 14 goals and 14 assists.

Messi’s potential return to Newell's Old Boys would mark a sentimental conclusion to an illustrious career.
