Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI), will remain in charge of the Asian Cricket Council. The ACC Annual General Meeting in Bali on Wednesday, January 31, unanimously approved his reappointment as the head of the continental body.
In January 2021, Jay Shah took over as the Asian Cricket Council's president, succeeding Nazmul Hassan in the role for the first time. He was given an extension to serve as ACC president till January 2024. Jay
Shah became the youngest administrator to assume the position of ACC chief in 2021, having turned 32 years old. Jay Shah will hold the position of ACC chief for a further two years. In 2021–2022, he completed his first two-year tenure as the ACC chief. In 2023, he was reappointed.
As the COVID-19 outbreak affected international cricket, Jay Shah guided the Asian Cricket Council through a difficult time. The men's Asia Cup was relocated from Sri Lanka to the United Arab Emirates in 2022 as a result of that country's financial difficulty. In 2023, Shah managed the implementation of a hybrid concept for the men's Asia Cup, which was co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka and featured a 50-over format.
After working under Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, who became the board president last year, Jay Shah has been the honorable secretary of the BCCI. In 2023, the Asian Cricket Council released the inaugural schedule for the next two years, which included events for men, women, and age-group teams.
The Asia Cup was effectively organized by the ACC in 2022 in T20 format and ODI format in 2023 under Shah's direction.
