India defeated Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final after outscoring their opponents to 51. On Sunday in Colombo, after Dasun Shanaka chose to bat after winning the toss, Mohammed Siraj destroyed Sri Lanka's batting order with figures of 6 for 21 off 7 overs, making the result definite .Due to their inexperience, up to five Sri Lankan batters were eliminated without scoring. India completed their target in just 6.1 overs, winning the championship with 263 balls remaining and all 10 of their wickets still in tact. This was India's highest winning margin in terms of balls still in play. The previous record was achieved against Kenya in 2001 when they used 231 additional balls to successfully reach a 91-point aim.

The Sri Lankan batting order was completely demolished by Mohammed Siraj, who took four wickets in only six deliveries. Mohammed Siraj has the fourth-best ODI stats (6 for 21), trailing only Stuart Binny , Anil Kumble  and Jasprit Bumrah . One-day international scoring against India has never been worse, and Sri Lanka's 50 all out is presently their second-lowest total ever.

Sri Lanka has performed exceptionally well in the Asia Cup, despite the fact that they qualified for the World Cup by winning the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. In the Super 4, Sri Lanka lost to India in a close match before defeating Pakistan in a game that was stopped by rain to go to the finals. In front of a cheering home crowd, Sri Lanka's hitters shown a lack of effort and paid the price for poor shot selection against two of the best pacers in the world.
