Exciting news for Indian wrestling fans! The suspense surrounding Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia's participation in the World Championships selection trials has finally come to an end. Thanks to the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) clearance, they are all set to represent India in this crucial competition. These trials will determine our national team for both the World Championships and the first qualifying round for the much-anticipated Paris Olympics 2024.

On August 25th and 26th, hold your breath as our talented athletes battle it out on the wrestling mat. The women's wrestling and men's Greco-Roman competitions will take place on Day 1, followed by the thrilling trials in men's freestyle on Day 2.

The action-packed championships will be held in Belgrade, Serbia from September 16th to 24th. As Bajrang heads to Kyrgyzstan for a rigorous training camp from August 21st till September 28th with his coach, strength & conditioning expert, physiotherapist, and sparring partner. Deepak too gears up for some intense sessions in Russia starting from August 23rd till September 28th alongside his coach & physiotherapist.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) gave their approval but requested a fitness certificate and a valid reason explaining their absence from senior Worlds trials before departure. While this development may have slightly dimmed Vishal Kaliraman's hopes of competing at the Asian Games after winning in the 65kg weight category selection trials, we eagerly await our champions' outstanding performances on an international stage!
