SpaceX launches Billionaire and three other on trip to conduct first private Spacewalk. Isaacman, along with a pair of SpaceX engineers and a former Air Force Thunderbirds pilot, launched before dawn aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Florida. The spacewalk is scheduled for late Wednesday (Sept 11) or Thursday (Sept 12), midway through the five-day flight.
To conduct the first private spacewalk in space, the SpaceX Company led by Elon Musk has launched this prestigious 'Polaris Dawn'. The Falcon 9 rocket launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and successfully sent four astronauts into orbit. The Polaris Dawn mission is led by businessman and billionaire Jared Isaacman. Former US Air Force employee Scott Kidd is acting as the pilot. They were accompanied by mission engineers Sarah Gilli and Anna Menon from SpaceX.
This will be the first manned mission in the Polaris mission. SpaceX equipment was used entirely in this project. The mission will not stop near the International Space Station. But it will take the astronauts to a height of about 700 km above the earth and orbit the earth.
This project was supposed to be taken up on August 27, but it was postponed due to unfavourable weather.
What is the Polaris Dawn Mission?
Four astronauts will go into low Earth orbit (LEO) in Crew Dragon capsules under the Polaris Dawn mission. During the mission, the astronauts spend a total of five days in orbit. On the third day of the mission launch, the two astronauts exit the capsule and do a 15-20 minute spacewalk. This is the first private mission by astronauts to spacewalk. Several other tests will also be conducted during the mission.
