Lok Sabha polls are over. This time, by-elections will be held in four assemblies in West Bengal. And the election commission is tightening the security around that by-election.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the bye-elections to four assembly constituencies in West Bengal will be held on July 10, and the deployment of central forces and patrolling will begin on June 26. Similarly, 100 percent of booths will have a web casting system, as in Lok Sabha polls.

By-elections to four assembly constituencies in West Bengal will be held next month, along with several states. The TMC has also announced the names of candidates for these four constituencies, while the BJP and the CPI (M) have also announced their candidates.

According to the Election Commission, 55 companies of central forces will be deployed for the by-elections.

The maximum number of central forces will be deployed in Bagda constituency in North 24 Parganas district. 16 companies of central forces will be deployed at Bagda.

Out of the total 55 companies of the central forces, eight companies will be deployed for strong rooms, and the remaining 47 companies will be used for election duty, the EC said.

The Election Commission does not want to leave any loophole in bye-elections like the Lok Sabha elections.

According to the Election Commission, Raiganj has 2,06,780 voters; Ranaghat South has 2,91,783 voters; Bagda has 2,85,509 voters; and Maniktala has 2,10,410 voters.

Krishna Kalyani had won the 2021 Assembly polls from Raiganj constituency on a BJP ticket. He later joined TMC. This time, the TMC fielded him from the Raiganj constituency in the Lok Sabha elections. As a result, Kalyani had to resign as an MLA. With his resignation, a by-election will be held in the Raiganj assembly constituency. Similarly, Mukutmani Adhikari joined the TMC just before the Lok Sabha polls after winning as a BJP candidate from Ranaghat Dakshin constituency in 2021. This time, the TMC had fielded his candirature from the Ranaghat Lok Sabha constituency. Mukutmani also resigned as an MLA. Biswajit Das had won the Bagda seat on a BJP ticket in the last assembly elections. This time, the TMC has fielded him from the Bongaon Lok Sabha seat. Biswajit had resigned as an MLA. As a result, there will be a by-election in Bagda Constituency. The Maniktala seat is also going to the polls, as the seat fell vacant following the death of former state minister Sadhan Pandey. Polling for these four constituencies will be held on July 10, and the results will be declared on July 13.
