Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visits to the southern states have been particularly impressive with the ‘vocal for local’ concept. He tries to reach out to the people by wishing the gathering in local language. Also try to quote the names of the local temples, rivers, historical places and famous personalities. Impress the people appropriately identifying the languages, literature, culture and art of the respective states. Educated, and Intellectuals are also being impressed by starting the speech in the regional language. The sayings of famous poets and writers are used occasionally.

Narendra Modi, during his ongoing visit to Tamil Nadu, had praised Tamil poet Bharathidasan.

Addressing the convocation ceremony of state-run Bharathidasan University in Tiruchirapalli, the PM Modi quoted the 'Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom' Tamil verses of poet Bharathidasan, after whom the university had been named, and said it meant reading ‘Indian youth are creating brave new world’ which is also the university's motto.

 Modi said that Indian youth were already creating such a world. The Indian scientists are on the world map through mission like Chandrayan and our innovators took the number of patents from around 4000 in 2014 to almost 50000 now.

PM paid floral tributes to a bust of Bharathidasan (1891-1964), hailed as revolutionary Tamil poet.

PM also inaugurated the new terminal building at Tiruchirapalli International Airport has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 1100 crores.

The airport design has been inspired by the culture vibrancy of Tiruchirapalli. It would depict art form Kollam art to colours of Srirangam Temple and other artworks.

The design of the new integrated terminal building is drawn from the architectural concept of monuments in and around Tiruchirapalli AKA Trichy as well as festivals like Pongal and Rangoli. A big temple tower-like structure, resembling Srirngam Ranganathan temple gopuram, welcomes passengers at the airport. 

In this trip Modi to visit Tamil Nadu and Kerala states. The Tamil Nadu BJP team is aiming to take the highlights of the Prime Minister's visit to party workers and the general public. They are running the 'Vanakkam Modi' campaign in the social media.

In recently held Kashi Tamil Sangam events, Modi said that the spiritual confluence strengthens the sentiment of 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat'. He also credited Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya and other ancient philosophers with creating the idea of India as a nation. PM said that this idea was alien for foreign countries.

Earlier, in January 2021, Prime Minister Modi remembered the famous Telugu poet Gurajada Appa Rao during the launch of corona vaccines across the country.

‘Deshamante Matti kaadoy… Deshamante Manujuloyi..’ (Nation means - people, not only a soil). Modi read the Gurajada’s poem. Mentioning a few lines from the 1910 Verses ‘Deshamunu Preminchumanna’ (Love the Country), Modi urged the people of the country to take inspiration from Gurajada.

In the Telangana election campaign, Modi started his speeches with Telugu words and impressed everyone.

"Naa Kutumba Sabhyullaara " (Oh My family members) …  It was interesting to listen Modi’s Telugu words when he addressing the huge crowd that came to the public meetings.

The BJP has been focusing on the southern states (130 Lok Sabha seats) in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Tamil Nadu has 39 Lok Sabha seats, Karnataka 28, Andhra Pradesh 25, Kerala 20, Telangana 17 and Puducherry 1.
