On Tuesday, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Sita Soren, who is the daughter-in-law of JMM president Shibu Soren, resigned from the party and joined the BJP. In her resignation letter to Shibu Soren, the MLA from Jama expressed feeling neglected by the party and her family ever since her husband, Durga Soren, passed away. She mentioned hoping for improvement over time but felt disappointed by the lack of change.

Later that day, she officially joined the BJP in New Delhi in the presence of BJP leaders Vinod Tawde and Laxmikant Bajpai. Sita Soren, who previously held the position of general secretary in JMM, also criticized the party's current state, stating it no longer upheld the values and ideals it once did under her late husband's leadership. She expressed sadness over what she perceived as a conspiracy against her and her family.

BJP state president Babulal Marandi welcomed Sita Soren to the party and stated that the decision for her to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections would be made by the party's central election committee. Marandi commented on the feeling of threat among Congress and JMM legislators towards their own government and acknowledged the pain and injustice reflected in Sita Soren's resignation letter.
