PM Modi Files Nomination for Varanasi Lok Sabha Polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially entered the electoral race for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat by filing his nomination on Tuesday. Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a viral video captured the moment as PM Modi handed over his documents to the district magistrate, who warmly greeted him and offered a seat. A priest also joined the procession into the office.

Originally hailing from Gujarat, PM Modi contested and won the Varanasi seat in 2014, marking this as his third bid for representation from this significant spiritual center in Hinduism. Prior to filing his nomination, PM Modi partook in religious rituals, offering prayers at the revered Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of the Ganges, and visiting the ancient Kaal Bhairav temple. He conducted aarti at the Ghat and rode a cruise ship to the Namo Ghat before proceeding to the temple, where he engaged in prayers amidst Vedic chants, with Yogi Adityanath by his side

Expressing his deep connection to Kashi, the ancient name for Varanasi, PM Modi emphasized its significance in his life. His affectionate ties with the city were evident during a vibrant roadshow held the previous day, which he fondly shared on social media, thanking the people of Kashi for their love and blessings.

With these ceremonial and political gestures, PM Modi’s nomination filing signifies the beginning of what is expected to be a closely watched electoral campaign in one of India’s most historically rich and spiritually significant constituencies.
