India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) in New Delhi, where he interacted with key Christian leaders. Established in 1944, the CBCI united Christians from diverse backgrounds. PM Modi wished Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias for his 80th birthday. This was the first time the Prime Minister attended such a program. He interacted with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and other prominent leaders of the Church.

PM Modi congratulates the CBCI and its members on this significant milestone. He reminisced about his last Christmas celebration with CBCI at his residence and recalled the fulfilling moments of rescuing Father Alexis Prem Kumar from war-torn Afghanistan after his eight-month hostage situation.

The Prime Minister highlighted that India's foreign policy focuses on human interests as demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic. India selflessly assisted over 150 countries, sending medicines and vaccines, resulting in a positive global impact. He also expressed his sadness over the spread of violence and disruption in society, as seen at a Christmas market in Germany and the 2019 Easter bombings in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the importance of love, harmony, and brotherhood that is the teaching by Lord Christ.

He also highlighted the work done by the BJP over the past decade, like how 250 million people have overcome poverty, making India the 5th largest economy, opportunities for youth in start-ups, science, sports, and entrepreneurship, and empowering women for the country's progress. India has made significant progress in under-explored sectors like mobile and semiconductor manufacturing, importance of institutions and organizations in social service, such as establishing schools, uplifting communities through education, and implementing health initiatives, as collective responsibility.

The Prime Minister underscored the government's initiatives that have significantly benefited various communities; these include PM Awas Yojana, the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, prioritization of differently-abled communities in public infrastructure and employment, the Kisan Credit Card, and the Matsya Sampada Yojana.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of incorporating the path of compassion and selfless service from Jesus Christ, the reason behind celebrating Christmas, which is not only personal but a social duty.
