The Winter Session of Parliament which begins on November 25 has come to a halt due to protests from Opposition parties regarding Adani US indictment, Manipur violence, Sambhal clashes, and Waqf Bill issues. The winter session of Parliament has been interrupted for the first four days.

The proceedings of both the houses were severely disrupted on Friday as the opposition insisted on discussing the violence that broke out in the Sambhal in UP, Adani bribery issues. Due to this, both the houses were adjourned till December 2.

As soon as the house began, Congress and Samajwadi Party MPs came to the Speaker's chamber and started shouting slogans. Speaker Om Birla adjourned the house for some time after the house was disrupted again to see if two questions had been completed during the Question Hour. Protests continued even after the house resumed. Due to this, the house was adjourned till December 2. The same situation continued in the Rajya Sabha. Opposition members raised slogans after Chairman Dhankar rejected their adjournment notices. Chairman adjourned the House till Monday.

Opposition’s Adjournment Notices…

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar alleged that the opposition is using adjournment notices as weapons to disrupt (mechanism of disruption) the proceedings of the House. He said that the opposition intentionally disrupting the house by issuing notices under Rule 267. ‘Rule 267 has become a weapon for the opposition to disrupt the House,’ he said.

Chairman had received 17 notices from the opposition. After his remarks, MPs started raising slogans against Prime Minister Modi and Adani. Expressing anger over this, Dhankar said, ‘Our actions are not people-centric. They are completely against the people and have nothing to do with them. They are making fun of us. In fact, we have become a laughing stock,’ and adjourned the House.
