Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairperson K Marigowda has stepped down from his position, citing health issues, as the investigation into the MUDA site allotment case intensifies. Marigowda, a close ally of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, submitted his resignation to Urban Development Department Secretary Deepa Cholan, following the Chief Minister’s directive.
The resignation comes at a critical moment for the Karnataka government, already under pressure from opposition parties, particularly the BJP, which has ramped up calls for Siddaramaiah's resignation. The probe into alleged irregularities in site allotments by MUDA has brought fresh scrutiny on the Chief Minister, with the opposition seizing the opportunity to demand accountability.
