Moitra accused of using unparliamentary words against Sonkar

TMC MP Mahua Moitra has been accused of using derogatory words against the chairman of the ethics committee. "This is a dark day in parliamentary history," BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said.

On Thursday, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra appeared before parliament's ethics committee in the 'cash for query' case. However, she later walked out in anger, accusing the committee of "uncomfortable questions". The TMC MP brought serious allegations against the committee. Opposition MPs also boycotted the meeting. Addressing a press conference, Mahua Moitra claimed that she was asked "personal and obscene" questions during the parliamentary ethics committee meeting. At the same time, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey raised his voice against Mahua.

Supporting Mahua Moitra, BSP MP Danish Ali said, "We walked out of the committee meeting after the committee chair asked objectionable questions." At the same time, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey reiterated his allegations and said that whatever Mahua Moitra says, the MP must take responsibility for the allegations against her. He described Mahua's behaviour as against parliamentary discipline and the darkest day in parliamentary history.

According to the information, the ethics committee asked Mahua Moitra a lot of questions. This included direct questions about Darshan Hiranandani's affidavit, especially her foreign trips. Mahua was asked who bear the expenses of her foreign trips. What hotel did she use during this trip, and who paid for it?

Feeling uncomfortable over personal and vulgar questions, she walked out of the ethics committee meeting with opposition lawmakers. BSP MP Danish Ali, Janata Dal (United) MP Giridhari Yadav, and Congress MP Uttam Kumar Reddy were among those who walked out of the meeting. Later, Giridhari Yadav said, Vinod Sonkar asked a personal question to Mahua Moitra. They have no right to ask personal questions. So we walked out."

Vinod Sonkar, chair of the Parliamentary Ethics Committee, said Mahua did not cooperate with the probe. "The allegations made by opposition members are baseless. He left the meeting to avoid questions.

"Meanwhile, committee member Aparajita Sarangi said, "Moitra was speaking very aggressively and vulgarly. Bjp MP Sarangi also said that "While leaving, Mahua Moitra used 'derogatory' and'shameless' words towards the chairman of the ethics committee."

Accusing TMC MP Mahua Moitra of 'cash for query', BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said, "She tried to present a misleading'story' to the public. Nishikant has accused her of using "derogatory" words against ethics committee chairman Vinod Sonkar. "Based on all the evidence given by me and others, I can say that no power can save Mahua Moitra," Dubey said. The TMC MP has tried to expose misinformation to the public.
