The reason for creating these new districts is to ensure that the people of Ladakh get better government services and facilities, the government said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted after Amit Shah's announcement. "This decision has been taken in the interest of better administration and development of Ladakh," he wrote on the X handle. Zanskar, Dras, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang will be given more attention as districts this time. All government services will be delivered more easily to the doorsteps of common people. Ladakh became a Union Territory of India in 2019. According to the official website of the administration, Ladakh had two districts: Leh and Kargil. This time, the Union Territory has been divided into five districts.
