

Belagavi DC Nitesh Patil on Monday issued an order prohibiting entry of ministers Shambhuraj Desai, Chandrakant Patil and Deepak Kesarkar and Lok Sabha MP Dhairyasheel Mane from entering Belagavi district.
The Belagavi District Administration has banned entry of there Maharashtra ministers and one MP in the district from October 31st 6 am to November 2, 6 am to prevent them from participating in the black day event of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) observed on November 1,

Karnataka has imposed a ban on the entry of people and leders into Belgavi district from October 31 to November 2 to maintain order during the MES programmes. Entrances to the district from Maharashtra would be blocked and strict security measures would be in place to prevent untoward incidents,’’ Said Nitesh Patil,
As the state intelligence wing reported about the possibility of leders’s entry into Belagavi on the day prior to Kannada Rajyotsava. the police department blocked all the entrances with barricades and is allowing people after checking and inquiry, He said
the Kannada Organisations’ Steering Committee has written a letter to Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, urging him not to permit supporters of the pro-Maharashtrian cause from Maharashtra to enter the district in this regard.
MES which has been demanding merger of Marathi speaking areas of the state with Maharashtra Observes Karnataka Rajyotsava as black day on November 1 in support of it’s demand. the black day programmes of the MES is a protest against Belagavi not being included in Maharashtra when the states were reorganised based on language in 1956. the MES move faced opposition from kannada organisation and writers.
