We are just days away from experiencing the grand Lok Sabha battle of 2024. The election season brings with it a showdown of ideological and historical rivalries, polls promises, and a whole of lot of election campaigning.
Uttar Pradesh has always been the focus states for all parties when it comes to General Elections as it sends 80 representatives to the Parliament. On April 19, most of the western Uttar Pradesh belt will vote in phase 1. While the BJP is campaigning on an aggressive mode in west UP, SP and others are also planning to give tough competition to the ruling party.
Here’s what the analysis says on Saharanpur, Bijnor and Nagina Lok Sabha seats:
Saharanpur
BJP – Raghav Lakhanpal
INC – Imraan Masood
BSP – Majid Ali
Congress candidate Imraan Masood’s position seems strong due to his continuous activities in the area. As usual, the BSP has placed its bet on a Muslim candidate which can divide the Muslim vote bank further. In such a scenario, the BJP can become a sleeper hit.
If at all, the BJP is able to pull more Dalit and Saini votes into its bank, who knows, it may also register a major win on this seat!
Bijnor
BJP – Chandan Chauhan
INC – Deepak Saini
BSP – Vijendra Singh
By fielding a Saini candidate, INC has made the fight quite interesting for BJP. The ruling party can suffer a loss due to a Saini candidate. Bijnor is said to be kingdom of BSP Supremo Mayawati as she has worked in the region and mastered in the art of politics. However, with Malook Nagar joining the RLD, it has given a huge jolt to Mayawati.
In recent times, BJP has done a huge dent on BSP’s Dalit vote bank and it can continue to do so through small street meetings in Dalit settlements.
Nagina
BJP - Om Kumar
SP - Manoj Kumar
BSP - Surendra Pal
ASP - Chandrashekar
The reserved seat of Nagina has a strong base of Mayawati's BSP. However, this time BJP is in full mood to capture the seat as BJP's candidate Om Kumar has a strong image. This seat will witness an interesting tussle especially after ASP's Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan has announced his candidature. It seems like both SP and BSP are not even in the race. Now it will all depend on how much Om Kumar is able to woo voters other than his own community.
