Indian Army rejected Congress’s allegations that China had occupied parts of Arunachal Pradesh, describing the videos shared by Congress leaders as misleading and digitally manipulated. Following the Army’s clarification, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized Congress for allegedly spreading AI-generated misinformation and damaging the reputation of the armed forces. The BJP demanded an unconditional apology from Congress.

Bihar Congress spokesperson Ritu Choudhary shared a video claiming that Chinese vehicles had entered Indian Territory following the alleged occupation of parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Another Congress worker alleged that communication with Indian troops deployed in the region had been disrupted and that China was preventing essential supplies from reaching the soldiers.

On Tuesday, the Indian Army clarified that one viral video showed legitimate trading activities near Nathu La Pass in Sikkim, where Indian and Chinese traders legally operate vehicles. The Army also stated that another video had been manipulated using deepfake technology. The original footage, dated October 27, 2023, showed an Army officer addressing journalists about infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the clarification, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju accused Congress of circulating AI-generated fake videos to discredit the Indian Army and damage India's reputation. He described the alleged misinformation as an act of betrayal that served the interests of India's adversaries and demanded an unconditional apology. The BJP also reiterated its demand for Congress to apologize to the country.
