Kerala Congress Infighting Escalates to High Command

The internal conflict within the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has intensified, with KPCC President K. Sudhakaran and A Group leaders escalating their dispute to the party's high command. The A Group has decided to file a formal complaint against Sudhakaran directly with the central leadership. Sudhakaran is scheduled to visit Delhi on Thursday for discussions with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

The rift deepened after Sudhakaran annulled a decision by MM Hassan, the acting president, to revoke the suspension of former KPCC secretary MA Latif. This reversal has sparked significant backlash from the A Group, who did not anticipate such swift action. Party observers note that Sudhakaran had hinted at reviewing actions taken by Hassan during his tenure, but the A Group was unprepared for the immediate impact of Sudhakaran's decisions.

Sudhakaran’s decision to reinstate Mambaram Divakaran, who had publicly challenged him, has also caused friction. The A Group accuses Sudhakaran of attempting to undermine Hassan by reversing his decisions and concealing the reinstatement of Divakaran. They plan to present these grievances to the high command, alleging that Sudhakaran is destabilizing the party's internal structure.

Party sources have clarified that Latif was reinstated without consulting anyone, including Opposition leader VD Satheesan. Sudhakaran maintains that no proper consultation took place, a point he plans to discuss with Kharge.

This internal strife is being highlighted just as the vote count approaches, with the A Group leaders resolved to openly oppose Sudhakaran. The conflict underscores the ongoing power struggle within the state Congress, which is now set to be addressed at the national level.
