Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on Monday a high-level investigation into serious allegations raised by ruling LDF MLA P.V. Anvar against senior IPS officers in the state. Speaking at a police association event, Vijayan emphasized that the government will address these issues with the utmost seriousness and will not tolerate any breach of discipline within the police force.

The Chief Minister confirmed that a top-ranking officer would be entrusted with probing the allegations, although he did not specifically mention Anvar's claims. This decision comes after Nilambur MLA Anvar accused the Chief Minister's political secretary, P. Sasi, and ADGP (Law and Order) Ajith Kumar of misconduct, including tapping ministers' phone conversations, having links with gold smuggling rackets, and involvement in other serious crimes. Anvar also made serious accusations against Pathanamthitta SP Sujith Das.

The Left MLA's explosive allegations have triggered sharp political reactions from opposition parties, who have demanded the immediate resignation of CM Vijayan. The Congress leadership described Anvar's charges as "extremely serious" and "alarming," calling for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged illegal activities within the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). Meanwhile, the BJP has urged the CM to respond directly to the accusations raised by his party's own MLA.

Vijayan reassured that the government examines all issues based on their merit, regardless of their origin, signaling the gravity with which these allegations are being treated. The announcement of the probe marks a significant step in addressing the controversy surrounding the Kerala police force and the state administration.
