A BJP delegation from Kerala has met the President seeking constitutional action against the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC), following former Governor Rajendra Arlekar’s recommendation for the removal of its chairman and members.

The delegation urged the President to consider Arlekar’s recommendation and initiate proceedings under Article 317 of the Constitution, including referring the allegations against PSC chairman M.R. Baiju and other members to the Supreme Court for an inquiry.

In its representation, the delegation highlighted alleged examination irregularities, nepotism, backdoor appointments and political interference in the functioning of the constitutional recruitment body, stating that these developments had eroded public trust in the Commission’s credibility and impartiality.

The eight-member delegation included former BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Rajya Sabha MPs C. Sadanandan and P.T. Usha.

Citing findings of the Crime Branch Special Investigation Team (SIT), the delegation alleged that 10 questions carrying 58 marks in the examination for senior posts in the Kerala State Planning Board were left unevaluated in the answer scripts of all candidates, allegedly giving an advantage to the first-ranked candidate. It also pointed out that the SIT had received 180 complaints concerning various PSC examinations.
