The Kerala Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the irregularities in the NEET, NET, and other entrance exams conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The resolution urged the Central government to take immediate action to address the grievances of the affected candidates. Both the CPM-led LDF and the Congress-led UDF expressed serious concerns about the recent irregularities in the NEET UG and UGC NET exams, questioning the competence and credibility of the NTA in managing such critical exams.

CPM MLA M Vijin, who brought up the issue in the Assembly, held the central government accountable for the irregularities in the NEET exams. He alleged that the NEET results were declared on June 4, coinciding with the counting of Lok Sabha polls, to divert attention from the significant irregularities. Vijin accused the central government of orchestrating this timing to shield the NTA from scrutiny.

The opposition UDF members supported the concerns raised by the LDF and also criticized the central government's role in the irregularities. Higher Education Minister R Bindu moved the resolution, condemning the NTA's functioning and the support it receives from the central government. She called for immediate redressal of the candidates' grievances.

During the discussion, Congress MLA P C Vishnunadh proposed that the resolution should also demand that states be allowed to conduct their own entrance exams in the future. The LDF suggested that such a resolution could be addressed at a later date. The resolution was passed unanimously by the Assembly.

The Assembly's strong stance highlights the growing dissatisfaction with the NTA's handling of national entrance exams and calls for significant reforms to ensure the integrity and fairness of these crucial assessments.
