The Karnataka High Court has permitted the Lokayukta police to proceed with their investigation into alleged irregularities in the allotment of sites to B M Parvathy, wife of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The court also directed the Inspector General of Police from the anti-corruption body to oversee the probe. Additionally, the Additional Director General of Police is tasked with reviewing the investigation report, which is to be submitted by the next hearing date on January 27.

This decision came after hearing the petition of Snehamayi Krishna, who sought the transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Senior counsel Maninder Singh, representing the petitioner, argued that the investigation must be impartial and inspire public confidence. He claimed that the government might be shielding the accused and emphasized that if high-ranking officials or politicians are involved, the probe should be handed over to an independent agency.

The court also allowed the accused’s counsels to file objections and serve them to the petitioner. In addition, it requested the investigation report from December 19, 2024, to be presented in the next hearing.
