On Thursday, Karnataka Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar returned to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Jagadish Shettar re-joined BJP in the presence of BJP National president JP Nadda, former CM-senior party leader BS Yediyurappa and state BJP President BY Vijayendra at BJP Headquarters in Delhi.
After returning to the party, Jagadish Shettar said that it is necessary to make Modi the prime minister again to strengthen India.
“The party gave me a lot of responsibilities in the past. Because of some issues, I joined the Congress party. State BJP leaders and workers asked me to come back to the BJP. Yediyurappa and Vijayendra also wanted me to come back to the BJP. I am rejoining the party with the belief that Prime Minister Modi has to become the PM again. Under the his leadership in the last 10 years, India has become a powerful country”, he added.
He further said that Congress party leaders treated him with respect when he was in the party and Shettar credited CM Siddaramaiah and DyCM DK Shivakumar. It is to be noted that he joined the Congress after he was denied a ticket for the assembly elections from his constituency Hubli-Dharwad Central.
Siddaramaiah’s first Reaction on Shettar rejoining BJP
After Jagadish Shettar rejoined the BJP, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Jagadish Shettar had said that the BJP had insulted him by giving him a ticket.
“Although we gave him a ticket, he lost the Assembly elections. However, we made him a member of the Legislative Council and treated him with respect. I don't know if he joined BJP. He told me that BJP has humiliated him and he will not come back” the Chief minister added.
